My first cat was a red boy called Peter. I was so young that I could not understand why he didn´t like it when I pulled him out to play from behind the oven by tail! What I remember of him is largely based on what my family have told me, but from these stories, it is clear that I grew up with cats.

After my father died there was a long period without cats. My mother didn´t welcome non-contributing family members. This catless era lasted until my own small son came home one day with a tiny stray kitten in his arms, begging his father to be allowed to keep it. As for me - I couldn´t refuse! So, Bastian, a black-silver tabby was welcome into our home. He was a beautiful cat and well practised in Martial Arts through play fights with my son. He survived the proverbial 9 lives including a near fatal worm infestation, a fight with neighbour´s boxer and being shot by a hunter. He lived in our family for 16 years until he died blind.

In 1985 I had encounter of a different kind. A friend took me to a pedigree cat show in Nürnberg where I saw for the first time a Norwegian Forest Cat - from the "av Trollsfjord" family. I longed for a cat like this. I was hooked!

It took three years with the help of a Forest Cat owner, to fight through the jungle of Cat Clubs, Pedigrees und Catteries until at last I had a offspring "Trollsfjord" queen of my own, and was able to take her to a stud. From then on I realized that distance is not deterrent to the cat lover! I brought my own stud from Sweden - "Mar-Michel´s Mr. Dino", who with his sister, "Dimmi-Dream" dominated at all the shows.
"Mr. Dino" won my first "Best of Best 1", a triumph I can only dream of to-day - with my cats now, I can´t even get a "CAC"! Have I failes with my breeding programme? No! My cats now have a colour which is not officially recognised in Norwegian Forest Cats - a so-called "X-Colour". I breed this for the first time accidentally.
Throug my contact with Swedish breeders, I acquired a normal classic black tabby girl. The breeder, Sylvia Erikers, did point out that sometimes strange colours appeared in this line, but I thought nothing of it. Than because through various circumstances the "Av Takeskog"-breeders had to give up breeding and disband their cats, I took over three of their youngsters with the plan, to find homes for them. But one was an unusual colour, and I kept this "Mr. X av Takeskog".
He produced my first "X-Colour-Kitten" with my normal coloured Swedish girl. I was bitten by a new bug! I wanted to explore and discover! Catbreeding had more to offer than producing beautiful healthy Norwegian kittens to the highest possible standard.
Genetic inheritance is a jungle in itself, and it is not yet clear which colour genes I am dealing with.

My goal was to get this "X-Colours" recognised by FIFE. From 2005 on, I can get titles again for my cats at shows, and perhaps once more "Best of Best"!

Have a look for yourself at my unusual coloured Norwegian cats!
